Community Health Workers
Based at the Burare District Health Centre community health workers walk out across the countryside to visit families with children that have been identified by the clinic as malnourished.

Meeting Mums and Children
Today has been a super busy day taking in the work of Save the Children projects.
Rwanda with Save the Children
Arrived safely in Rwanda with the team. I’m going to admit I’m a bit shell shocked – travelling so far on my own is in itself a big milestone for me let alone suddenly finding myself immersed in an African city.
A Life Free From Hunger…
I know that is what we all deserve.
and so I am proud to announce that I am supporting Save the Children in the second part of their No Child Born to Die campaign which aims to stop the millions of childhood deaths which occur from easily preventable diseases throughout the world.
A Sneak Peek into The Pink Whisk Kitchen
Happy New Year Pink Whiskers! Hope you all had a lovely break? I’ve certainly enjoyed spending time with my boys and is why I’ve not been back until now!
Whilst lots of you are cutting out the excess and having a ‘be good’ January you don’t really need me tempting you with treats and things you’re going to want to bake now do you?
How to make Puff Pastry
It’s not complicated but it does take a bit of organising in advance. I do use shop-bought puff pastry and generally have some in the freezer. Making your own is quicker than the time it takes to defrost some
(and it’s not difficult either)
This version of puff pastry is referred to as rough puff pastry, the idea being that you only get 75% of the rise that you would get with traditional puff pastry – getting technical there!
One Year at The Pink Whisk
Friday 8th July 2011 will be the 1st Birthday of The Pink Whisk and goodness what a year it’s been!
105 blog posts, one new Stoves oven, countless new cake tins, 23 pots of glitter ;), 6 new baking paraphernalia cupboards fitted in the garage, a husband who has taken over the washing because he was fed up of waiting for me to do it, children who are now astounded if they come home from school and there’s no treats awaiting them and last but not least 6,000 cups of tea to get me through the lot!
In The Pink Whisk Kitchen…My Pride and Joy
What would my pride and joy be? I bet you’re all thinking its a fancy bit of equipment or in fact a super cool pink stand mixer of the Kitchen Aid variety? Well you’d be wrong, my pride and joy is my oven.
Wedding Baking…let’s DIY
Taking part in The Great British Wedding Cake got me thinking about baking for your own wedding which is well within the realms of possibility for all you Pink Whiskers. It doesn’t have to be the cake, there’s lots of wedding treats we can bake up too so I’m kicking off this week with a few little treat ideas and of course the projects from the programme.
